After a long theatrical career, Cuban comedian and show host Alexis Valdes makes his debut in literary circles with a new book titled Con todo mi humor, Alexis Valdes. The biographical work brings together memories, naughty observations, televised monologues, love stories and secrets from the world of television.
Valdes, who has been a fixture in South Florida's television scene with his shows Seguro que yes and Esta noche tu night, uses the book to discuss a lot of things he has not been able to voice on television.
When asked to write what ultimately became Con todo mi humor, Valdez asked "What will I write? A self-help book? A cookbook? An erotic novel?" The comedian then decided to write "an idiotic self-help erotic book with humorous monologues in the kitchen." As he said "people like seeing how an idiot suffers until he finally makes it."
After receiving an engineering degree and working on the stage in Cuba for 10 years, he went to Spain in the 1990s, where he became very popular due to his performances in programs like El Club De La Comedia. In Cuba, he became famous in a show where he interpreted the character of Bandurria. In 2005, he was actor, director and producer of his first film, Un Rey En La Habana. His most recent venture has taken him to Miami, where he broadcasts his comedic show Seguro Que Yes on America Teve. Since early July 2007, "Seguro Que Yes" went on hiatus. Since early 2008, his show was transferred form America Teve to Mega TV Channel 22 and later renamed Esta Noche Tu Night. On December the 14th 2011 he launched his second disc, 'Con Cariñito' (With Affection).
The book, published by Spanish publisher Santillana under its Aguilar imprint, is available now in bookstores nationwide.
