Quitapenas’ “Mas Tropical”

Check out the new video/track "Mas Tropical" from LA-based neo-Cumbia group Quitapenas. The track, produced by Fool’s Gold’s Lewis Pesacov, appears on the Mas Tropical/Que Te Pasa 7”, which is out now on White Iris Records. Of the video, director Jordan Harkins notes, “The ‘Mas Tropical’ video was shot around the Yucatan peninsula this past summer and at a house party in Echo Park with the band."

Quitapenas, which translates to “take away your worries,” is a nine-piece music collective hailing from the Inland Empire neighborhoods of Southern California whose music draws on traditional Afro-Cuban and Cumbia influences. Pesacov, who has also produced records by rock staples Best Coast and Foreign Born, first saw the band when they opened for Fool’s Gold in LA’s Macarthur Park, getting the crowd to dance throughout the night as well as at a raucous after-party.
