New York (KPRENSA) – The Mexican rock band Cafe Tacvba completes a month-long tour of the United States this week in Miami. The Miami show is the last step in a journey that carried the band across the country to cities including San Diego, Phoenix, San Antonio, Houston, New Orleans and Atlanta.
The tour is in support the band’s new CD “Sino”, the sixth studio album from the Mexican rockers that went on sale on October 9th. The new single “Volver a Comenzar”, a song with duration of approximately 7:40 minutes, can now be heard on the radio.
“Sino” is different than the band’s previous CDs. “Each CD we make is a child of the previous one that gave birth to something new. I believe we have arrived at another place and I can tell you that we are really pleased. We are really satisfied with the CD and when you listen to it you will see that it is a continuation in the road” said Emmanuel del Real Díaz of the band.
In general, the main subject matter of the CD is destiny, the consequences of decisions and recounting what you have and haven’t done in life, as well as ideological changes that happen with time or the differences in thoughts.
The members of Cafe Tacvba are:
Rubén Isaac Albarrán Ortega, voice and guitar. At times, he has also been known by a lot of other names like Juan, Pinche Juan, Cosme, Masiosare, Anónimo, Nrü, Amparo Tonto Medardo In Lak’ech o At Medardo ILK, G3, Gallo Gasss, Gallo Glass, Élfego Buendía, Rita Cantalagua, Sizu Yantra, Ixaya Mazatzin Tleyotl ó Ixxi Xooy and now Cone Cahuitl.
Emmanuel del Real Díaz, (known as Meme), keyboards, guitar acoustics, piano, programming, voice and melodica. He works with the record label Noiselab and produces other bands like Natalia y La Forquetina.
José Alfredo Rangel Arroyo (known as Joselo), electric guitars and acoustics and voice. He studied at the UAM (Metropolitan Autonomous University) Azcapotzalco campus and has a degree in graphic design and communications.
Enrique Rangel Arroyo, (known as Quique), bass and voice. A graphic designer by profession, he has his own studio where he does graphic design work for a diverse array of commercial and musical projects.
Rubén has already begun to show “his new look” that he’s created as he done for each new album. The new persona on this occasion carries the name in Nahuatl language of Ixaya Mazatzin Tleyotl, which he shortened to “Ixxi Xoo” (which is how he signed the bulletin on his MySpace page). Even as he continues detailing his new character, clothing and concept, the new name expired upon the launch of the CD. He now calls himself Cone Cahuitl.
Cafe Tacvba began in Satellite City, on the outskirts of Mexico City. The band, whose music cannot be easily categorized due to the versatility of their rhythms, began their professional career in 1989. However, the band existed for years before that, when its members began to participate in the toquines (small concerts of up and coming bands) at National School of Plastic Arts. From these humble beginnings, they have gone on to earn Grammys and Latin Grammys.
Their original name, Cafe Tacuba, was modified to Cafe Tacvba, with a”v”, to avoid legal conflicts with the restaurant of the same name located in the center of Mexico City.
