Sergio Perez Joins Force India
Interview with Mexican race car driver Sergio Perez on the New Formula 1 car VJM07 by Force India and and his thoughts on joining a new team for the 2014 season. The 23-year-old completes Sahara Force India’s 2014 line-up alongside Nico Hülkenberg and helps create one of the most exciting pairings on the Formula 1 grid.
“It’s great to announce my new team as Sahara Force India. Coming here was always my first choice and I’m really happy everything has now been confirmed. I want to say thank you to Vijay and the whole team for giving me the opportunity." said Perez "This is a young team with a lot of determination and they've produced competitive cars for the last few years. It’s all change for next season with the new regulations, but I already have a good feeling about 2014. My plan now is to visit the factory and get to know everyone in the team.”
Born January 26, 1990, Sergio Perez is also known as "Checo". He was a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy until 2012. He also took his first Formula One podium at the 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix with Sauber, a drive which won him plaudits and fuelled speculation of a move to Ferrari in the near future. However, Pérez later told reporters that he expected to stay with Sauber until at least the end of the 2012 season. Due to his young age and performance, he has been referred to as "The Mexican Wunderkind".
