Cuban musicians Alexander Abreu (in photo), Diana Fuentes and Yasek Manzano, and the veteran orchestra “Van Van” were awarded at the XIV International Fair Cubadisco 2010 for their latest works.
Los Van Van headed by Juan Formell for 40 years won in the category of folk music, in which David Calzado and his Charanga Habanera, and Arnaldo Rodríguez and his Talisman were competing too.
Young musicians were also awarded. Two of them were Yasek Manzano (Jazz) and Diana Fuentes with the album “Amargo pero dulce” (Bitter but sweet) in the category of Best Pop Album.
Mario Victoria Rodríguez and guitar player Pancho Amat for the album “Mis raíces” (My roots), and minstrel Rita del Prado and the duo Karma for “En guarandinga por toda Cuba” received the Cubadisco Great Prize.
The Cuban Institute of Music awarded Cubadisco prizes to the best albums, orchestras, musicians and production companies of the year.
